We, the Run Amok Irish Running Club, are a non-profit group of friends and community members who enjoy being fit and active. We think one important component of fitness is to be supported by other like-minded fitness individuals and have fun! So this running club was born!
Our season starts on the first Thursday after St. Patrick’s Day and then meets every Thursday until the last Thursday before Halloween. We meet at 6pm at O’Blarney’s Irish Pub in downtown Centralia to begin our weekly run. We will have 6-8 different routes which we will alternate throughout the year. We end our run at O’Blarney’s to enjoy great food and some social time before we all embark on our respective Fridays!
Although we may call ourselves a running club, we welcome individuals of all fitness levels! Run it, walk/run it or just walk…being active and covering the distance accomplishes the goal!
Every run allows participants to earn shirts. Participants will sign in at the front door of O’Blarney’s every Thursday at the start of each run to earn runs toward their shirt. Each week at the end of the run every participant that has achieved a new shirt level will come in front of the group to have their name announced and be awarded a shirt! When you complete 6, 15, 22, 33, 50, 75, and 100 runs you earn a shirt! Because we have no operating budget we ask that running club members help with costs by paying $10-$15 toward each shirt they earn. We encourage all participants to wear their shirts to the run every Thursday! Each shirt you earn has a unique color which identifies where you are in the hierarchy of participants.
Running club participants, who have earned their green 6th run shirt, can then have community races count toward their running club total runs. To earn credit take a picture with your number and your green shirt and send it to [email protected].
Individuals must be at least 16 years old to participate (minors must have a parent sign their waiver/hold harmless agreement). All participants must sign a waiver/hold harmless agreement and they must sign in each week if they wish to have their runs tracked and earn shirts.
