Psychotic Pop from Sheffield
‘She Makes Me Want To Die’ is the story of a relationship breaking up, in place of reflection there’s kinetic & aggressive energy. It’s a tale of not being able to sleep because of the arguments and how far someone can be pushed, almost to the brink. Despite what could be a hard-hitting subject, Faerground’s music is upbeat with a Britpop-feel echoing Suede, Pulp & at times Joy Division coupled with the storytelling, wit and vigor of classic Bowie.
The end of 2014 was a whirlwind for the band with their debut Double A-side single ‘We Hate The Same Things/Back In Town’ garnering radio play & enthusiasm from BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and Marc Riley, Frank Skinner on Absolute Radio, Shell Zenner and Charlie Ashcroft of Amazing Radio amongst many others. They supported the hotly-tipped Sleaford Mods at Sheffield Academy as well as playing with The Membranes in London. They’ve also been interviewed by Sheffield’s Exposed magazine with a live video session due online very soon.
BIOGRAPHY
Originally formed in Manchester in 2012, their demos caught the attention of John Robb who described them as ‘stunningly original and beautifully odd… if this band is not massive by next Summer then you are all deaf!’.. he described front man Bomar Faery as ‘borderline psychotic and quite definitely genius’ as 48 hours after the bands’ first press feature, on Robb’s ‘Louder Than War’ webzine, Bomar found himself committed to a psychiatric hospital and the band’s future uncertain.
On the day of his release, Bomar returned to Sheffield and reformed the band with Artery’s Murray Fenton, Loveboat’s Dan Botterill, Dodgems’ drummer Michael Breeze and original Manchester member Henrietta Rowlatt.
