Afrojack has already collaborated with some of today’s biggest stars (Pitbull & NeYo on #1 single “Give Me Everything”, David Guetta on world‐hit “Titanium”, Madonna, Chris Brown, Beyoncé and many more), topped the Billboard Charts, and performed at some of the world’s most iconic music festivals, including Coachella, Ultra, Tomorrowland and Electric Daisy Carnival (NY & Las Vegas). Following his success, Afrojack has become only the second DJ in history to place his handprints in the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
Grammy award winning DJ and producer, Afrojack, is one of the most influential
names in electronic dance music today. At only 27, he has played a large role in the worldwide
explosion and popularity of dance music with The Hollywood Reporter calling him “a global icon” set
“to conquer the world" and in 2014 Forbes placing him at #6 on its annual list of ‘The World’s
Highest Paid DJs.' A talented producer and artist Afrojack is versatile and creative with his sound
whether creating club hits or producing and remixing for the likes of Beyoncé, Pitbull or Madonna.
Afrojack is adept at shifting between genres and playing with his sound and it’s easy to see why
his skills are some of the most sought after in the world.
Starting off in his hometown of Spijkenisse, Nick van de Wall aka Afrojack, quickly made a name for
himself with a slew of hard-hitting underground releases, before exploding on the music scene in
2011 with the release of ‘Take Over Control’ - an instant worldwide club and chart hit the single
reached platinum status in the U.S. Afrojack then went onto develop his own imprint in the
production world with his label ‘Wall Recordings’ – a platform by which other passionate EDM
artists could grow. He also wanted his label to retain the ‘club music’ brand, something he strives
for with every Afrojack release. 2011 also saw Afrojack sign a landmark deal to become one of the
first ever DJ’s to sign an annual residency in Las Vegas, at the legendary Wynn Hotel. The
residency saw Afrojack perform over a dozen times a year at Wynn clubs including Encore Beach Club,
Surrender, Tryst and XS.
From there the success continued; as well as making club hits and collaborating with the likes of
David Guetta (co-writing and producing the world-wide smash ‘Titanium’), he also began to team up
with and write for A-list pop artists around the world, including Madonna and Chris Brown. In 2011,
he co-wrote and produced ‘Give Me Everything’ for Pitbull and Ne-Yo, which to this day has sold
more than 5 million copies worldwide. Not to mention his production work for Beyonce’s ‘Run the
World (Girls),’ his Grammy nominated remix for Leona Lewis’ ‘Collide’ and his 2011 underground
track ‘Rock the House,’ which topped the Beatport dance music charts after just three days. The
same year he headlined both EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) NY & Las Vegas to over 300,000 people, as
well as UMF (Ultra Music Festival) in Miami, Tomorrowland (in Belgium) and Coachella (LA) in
addition a colossal 40 city ‘Jacked’ tour of the United States, all packed into 2012.
Last year got off to a monumental start when Afrojack signed an exclusive worldwide deal with Def
Jam Recordings (formerly known as Island Def Jam) and Universal Music Group. The deal saw
Afrojack’s talent be recognized and supported by the renowned music label. The first project from
the partnership was ‘The Spark’, a single that fused EDM and pop and showed a new sound for
Afrojack as an artist. For his fourth consecutive year he returned to headline Creamfields and at
the Ultra Music Festival and TomorrowWorld, where he debuted his own ‘Jacked’ stage showcasing his
Wall artists. He also found time to shoot a documentary web-series, ‘March of the Afrojack’, which
gave fans an insight into the real person behind the Afrojack moniker. The series was released on
the Rolling Stone website and saw him share many intimate moments and thoughts from his journey on
the road along with his
personal mantra “If I can do it, you can do it too.”
In late 2013 Afrojack made history as he became the first DJ to ring the closing bell at
NASDAQ Stock Market Exchange in New York, as electronic dance company, SFX, went public. This also
came in the same week as Afrojack cemented his hands into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the second DJ
to ever do this and in doing so reinforced his position as a global music icon.
2014 is proving to be yet another milestone year for Afrojack; after headlining Ultra Music
Festival in Miami and hosting an intimate album listening party, the world- renowned producer and
DJ released his debut album ‘Forget The World’ on Def Jam Recordings on May 19th. The album, which
features collaborations with legendary
artists including Sting, Snoop Dogg, Jared Leto, Wrabel and Matthew Koma, immediately skyrocketed
to the #1 spot on the iTunes Dance Chart. He has also kicked off a new DJ residency at Las Vegas
hotspot Hakkasan, where fans can frequently catch his unique self-designed stage experience.
Given Afrojack’s immense popularity and influence on the music industry it is no surprise that many
corporate brands have flocked to him for brand partnerships. Afrojack recently announced a
partnership with globally celebrated fashion label ‘G- Star Raw’ for his own line of Afrojack
inspired designs sold worldwide. He recently released his second capsule collection with the brand,
after his first collection sold out in only 48 hours. He was also sought out by leading gaming
company, Razer, to be a brand consultant on the development of its future products. Further, Nick’s
single, ‘Ten Feet Tall’, premiered as a part of Bud Light’s newest commercial during the 2014
Superbowl. He continues to collaborate with some of the world’s most legendary music artists,
including his most recent appearance on Good Morning America with world renowned music artist
Sting.
In August 2014, Forbes awarded Afrojack the #6 spot on its list of the world’s highest paid DJs,
followed by placement on their distinguished ’30 Under 30’ list. Afrojack’s continued success and
popularity led him to headline the first ever Forbes Under 30 Summit, which brings together
business leaders and mentors also on Forbes ’30 Under 30’ list. Forbes continued the recognition
once more, when they asked him to be on the cover of their “Forbes Life” magazine.
Afrojack will take things to another level and to a bigger venue: the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. This
ADE 2014 performance will be his biggest show to date, and exhibits the barriers he continues to
breach. All of his past and future ventures continue to be highly regarded across the globe,
including two MTV EMA nominations for Best Electronic and Best World Stage 2014. Recently, his home
country The Netherlands honored the DJ with a stamp in his likeness alongside other Dutch DJs.
Afrojack has built a global brand that is recognized for influencing attitudes and championing new
levels of change for the music world. It is clear from his exponential growth that there is no
stopping him and at only 27 years old this is just
the beginning…
