Ukrainian Youth Association in Bradford is delighted to bring you a screening of Bitter Harvest
The film, only avaliable at select cinemas and special screenings, stars Max Irons, Samantha Banks, Barry Pepper, and Terence Stamp.
Bitter Harvest follows the story of two lovers (Irons and Barks) who are struggling to survive Holodomor - the artificial famine, brought on the Ukrainian people by Stalins regime - with thier Cossack grain farmer families. Inspired by actual events, Bitter Harvest is set in Soviet Ukraine in 1932-33.
As Stalin attempets to build a strong and propserous Soviet Union at all costs, a young artist born into a Ukrainian Cossack family named Yuri fights to survive starvation, detainment and torment to spare his childhood sweetheart Natalka from the Famine. Against this backdrop, Yuri escaps from a Soviet prison and joins the anti-Bolshevik resistance movement, as he fights to rejoin Natalka and the battle for Ukraine's freedom.
