Come celebrate the release of local nu-gaze duo Red Vienna’s record The Book of Hours, with special guests ACTORS.

Spiritual, dark, and utterly hypnotic in its swirling, shoegaze guitars and post-punk rhythms, Red Vienna’s new album The Book of Hours is a strong sophomore effort. Drawing from Robbie Zgaljic and Jahmeel Russell’s experience in previous projects Sparkmarker, Black Halos, Kittens, and KEN mode, as well as their European tour, the band has pushed their sound forward from their 2010 debut. From the pulsing groove of “Golden Dove” and “The Dead Lines” to the doom-pop of “Forty Eight Graves” and “Lights Out”, the record explores an eclectic mix of post-punk, soul, doom, and droning dance beats. The Book of Hours is out on March 31st on Locust Hail.

Inspired by the likes of Neu!, David Bowie, Brian Eno, and cold wave, Vancouver’s ACTORS are a warm night drive on a downtown viaduct, anesthetizing and brimming with kinetic energy. With warm keyboard pads and high-frequency bass lines, listeners fall in love immediately with a sound that’s both aggressive and dreamy. Creating a soundtrack that could have only come from a city that’s constructed of hopeless glass towers and features an exquisite grey void that canopies overhead every day of the year, ACTORS make terrible musicians, but musicians often make fantastic ACTORS.
