Space Monkeys perform their debut album ‘The Daddy Of Them All’ in full from start to finish on Saturday October 24th at Sound Control, Manchester. Space Monkeys were the last band ever to sign for Tony Wilson’s legendary Factory Records label. The album was released in 1997 and was championed at the time by John Peel, Irvine Welsh, Ian Brown & Liam Gallagher. David La Chappelle, a former apprentice of Andy Warhol chose the single ‘Sugar Cane’ to make his directorial debut and started Goodfellas actress Debi Mazar and the Rock Steady Crew. The video helped the song become a worldwide hit, breaking into the US Billboard top 50. The band had mainstream success in America during the nineties and had tracks from the album included on the movie ‘Sliding Doors’ and TV show ‘Dawsons Creek’. The album over the years has gained cult underground status and in 2015 the band announced they were reforming for a series of special gigs. This one off event will be the bands last gig of 2015 before they perform at the Shiiine On Weekender with Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, 808 State, Northside and a host of other top bands. This is the band that Tony Wilson described as ‘Almost as good as Oasis think they are’.
