MARINA MARQUES & OZGUR EL TURQUITO DEMIR - famous Argentine Tango Maestros from Buenos Aires
Marina Marques and Özgür El Turquito are professional Tango teachers and dancers based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They have been one of the most appreciated couples all around the globe: from Europe and Turkey to Canada, South America and Asia.
It is absolutely fascinating to see them dancing! With their expressiveness, their beautiful lines, their movements, and their true knowledge of this art, they can interpret and transmit their audience even the subtlest details of the music.
Their classes stand out because of their dedication to students, their incredible ability to teach different styles of tango, milonga, and waltz, and their talent to create a space that is not only efficient but also relaxed and convivial, in which everyone can find their own style.
MARINA MARQUES
Marina Marques has been involved in arts since she was 12 years old. At school, she stands out in theater, mime and dance: classic, modern, jazz and contemporary ballet. She then became a professional dancer, teacher and choreographer in Latin and Brazilian dance (Samba de gafiera, Forro, Zouk, Salsa, Chacha and Tango).
Since 2001, her professional career has been successful and unstoppable. In Brazil, wher she worked until 2006, she won numerous competitions, danced for famous dance companies and taught in the best dance schools of Sao Paulo.
In 2006, she moved to Buenos Aires, dedicated herself to Tango and gained respect and admiration in the Tango scene, teaching and performing in the most important milongas of the Tango capital: Practica X, El Motivo, La Viruta, Salon Canning, Tango Brujo, Me Rio de la Plata, Soho Tango, Maldita Milonga, La Milonga de Orsay, Club Independencia o Tango Cool.
Marina Marques worked with important Tango figures participating, teaching and performing not only in in Buenos Aires but also in Mar del Plata, La Plata, Bariloche and other capitals around the world (Berlin Tango festival 2006, Tango High 2008, Cumbre de Tango de Bariloche 2009, Festival de Tango Sao Paulo 2009, CIU danza Buenos Aires 2009 and el Festival Cambalache 2009).
In early 2010, she teams up with Özgür El Turquito. That association brings her dance to the next level: together, they create a charismatic dance combining elegance and creativity that has an undeniable quality and an impeccable technique.
OZGUR EL TURQUITO DEMIR
Since he started walking, everybody could see how skilled and talented Özgür EL TURQUITO was. He always knew that dancing would be his passion. Before he dedicated himself to tango, he completed his training through other dances.
EL TURQUITO studied Latin rythms (Salsa, Chacha, Merenge and Tango), Contemporary Ballet, Jazz and Hip Hop.
His professional career in Tango started in 2001. He found a unique expression form and a true sensation of the art of the dance. Very fast, EL TURQUITO became one of the most wanted teacher and dancer in Turkey. When he arrived to Buenos Aires in 2007, the same thing happened.
Argentina’s capital brought him a lot of opportunities, he improved and refined his dance, as well as his teaching. He studied different Tango styles and completed his training with other corporal techniques, Feldenkrais and Pilates and also musicality seminars.
EL TURQUITO taught and performed in the main milongas and Tango schools of Buenos Aires: Tango Brujo, La Maria, El Motivo, Tango Cool, Loca Milonga, Milonga 10, TangoLab, El Beso, La bendita Milonga, Practica X, etc.
Since 2008, his international career is phenomenal and brought him to work in the main capitals of the world.
In early 2010, he teams up with Marina Marques. That association brings his dance to the next level: together, they create a charismatic dance combining elegance and creativity that has an undeniable quality and an impeccable technique.
